Woodward Trust is an independent legal entity, directed entirely by its Trustees on the basis of the underlying trust documents, and related restrictions.  Under the terms of the original trust document, however, Cincinnati's Mayor and City Council may call upon the Trustees to render an annual account of  the assets, liabilities, income and expenditures of the Trust.  The Trustees have provided their Annual Report to City Council to the Mayor, City Council and the Court of Common Pleas.  That Annual Report is provided to numerous interested parties, and is available to anyone upon request.

Form 990 Return

Woodward Trust is non-profit organization, incorporated by act of the Ohio legislature in 1827.  The Trust is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and annually files Form 990 - Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax.  The public portions of that filing are available to anyone upon request or may be found using Guidestar.org (our EIN is 31-0538507).

Independent Audit

While not required to do so, the Trustees obtain an audit of their annual financial statements, performed by an independent C.P.A.  The most recent audit was for our fiscal year ended 7/31/2015, for which a "clean" opinion was rendered by our auditor, with the exception of the valuation of our real estate which is reported at the current market value (per the Hamilton County Auditor's valuation) instead of the value of the land when it was originally donated by William Woodward back in 1827 (which is unknown to us).
